Screening

A screening is a quick review of the health and safety conditions of an enterprise.

The purpose of screenings is to find enterprises with significant health and safety problems and to subject them to a thorough ’adapted inspection’.

All enterprises are screened

The Working Environment Authority screens all enterprises with employees and divides them into two groups:
  • Enterprises with no or only minor health and safety problems, which consequently do not need to be subjected to an adapted inspection.
  • Enterprises that have or may have significant health and safety problems, which consequently need to be subjected to an adapted inspection.

Screening visits are unannounced and last two hours on average

As a general rule, screening visits are unannounced and last two hours on average. The time spent depends on the health and safety level and size of the enterprise. As a result, some screenings of enterprises take longer while others take less time.

Involvement of management and staff

The screening starts with the Working Environment Authority contacting the management of the enterprise and some of its staff. Preferably, both management and staff should be present during the screening, but it will be performed in all circumstances.
